Nathan James in The Guardian: The Fine Art of Investing

Opus Art’s own Nathan James was featured in The Guardian on Saturday, in The Fine Art of Investing.

Nathan James 'Avatar'

If you don’t know that much about modern art, but you know what you like – or, better still, feel you could spot the next Damien Hirst – now could be the time to put some money into one of the few alternative investments you get to enjoy as it appreciates: contemporary art.

In the next few weeks most of this year’s MA shows are set to kick off at art colleges around the country. These annual exhibitions not only feature some of the most interesting artwork being produced in the UK, it is mostly for sale at prices that can look very good value if the student becomes hot property… (click here to read full article)

SHEONE Live @ Opus

As part of our new exhibition ‘POP CRIME’ opening last week, graffiti artist SHEONE spray painted a vintage mini live in the gallery!

And we caught the whole thing on camera…

James Choules, who adopts the alter-ego of SHEONE, is a London based artist with a unique brand of abstract painting that is rooted deep in the new wave graffiti era of early eighties New York.  His trademark strokes and bold expressive approach to image making put him firmly in the present. ReFill Magazine to refer to him as ‘a leading cultural artist’.

SHEONE has built a reputation for making complex installation paintings, being able to contend comfortably with very large and often unruly spaces.

The mini will later be auctioned for charity.

SHEONE’s work features alongside fellow graffiti artist – CRASH as part of the exhibition ‘POP CRIME‘ at Opus Art until August 31st 2009.

SHEONE – Live Video

In addition to the new works by CRASH and SHEONE that we’re exhibiting from Thursday evening at our Newcastle gallery, SHEONE also plans to spray paint a vintage mini car, which will take pride of place as an installation in the centre of the gallery floor. SHEONE already has a reputation for creating complex installation paintings – often in very large and unruly spaces and this latest installation promises to be no different.

You will be able to watch SHEONE at work in the gallery on our live webcam – http://www.designpeg.com/sheonecrash/sheone.htm

We also just have new works by SHEONE  just added to Opus Art today.
